The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn

Lori Benton

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

My Review:

After reading Lori Benton’s debut novel, Burning Sky, I knew that she was going to be an author whose books I would always want to read. I am so glad I discovered her since both her books have found their way to my favorite’s list. The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn was well written, entertaining and surpassed my expectations for it. It is definitely in my top 5 favorites that I have read this year.

When Tamsen’s abusive stepfather threatens her and tries to make her marry a man she does not want, she escapes at the first chance with Jesse Bird – a man she has never met. Jesse takes her over the mountains to escape her stepfather, but despite his care to keep Tamsen hidden and away from prying eyes, trouble pursues. Constantly on the run, they never feel as though they can settle down for fear trouble shall find them. Though Tamsen enlisted Jesse just to take her away, it appears her heart has other ideas as she finds herself drawn to this handsome man who seems willing to stop at nothing to protect her.

Wow! This book was so good. I loved the storyline, the adventure, the romance, the characters, the setting. Recently I have discovered that stories about the frontier are one of my favorite genres. I loved Jesse and Tamsen as the main characters as well. Both of them were well developed and they were described perfectly. I also really enjoy frontier stories set in the mountains so this story had an easy time finding its way into my heart. As I said before, I am so glad I discovered Lori Benton and I look forward to reading each new novel as they come.

I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher, WaterBrook Press, through the program Blogging for Books, in exchange for my honest review. I received no compensation for this review, nor was I required to write a positive review. All opinions stated are my own.
